How does mercury affect plant life?

    As you probably know, plants produce energy for themselves from the sun, through the process of photosynthesis. Magnesium is important to chlorophyll production, and if mercury is absorbed in place of magnesium by the plant, this can severely affect the plant’s functioning and growth.
