How does recycling make products cheaper?

Recycling doesn’t always make products cheaper initially, but they are normally competitive on a price basis. The benefits of not having to mine natural resources allow these savings to offset the cost of recycling. More importantly though, recycling saves a huge amount of money associated with pollution from landfills, mining, and transportation for products made from virgin materials and thrown away that result in higher costs of all products that we all pay for.
