Studies suggest that light intensity has the ability to control the populations of arthropods. Artificial light has been used to intensify attractive visual stimuli used in traps, as well as distract from the host prevention process. Additionally, the radiation from artificial light has shown an ability to kill and control the pest population. Lastly, time cued light intensity burst have been used to disrupt daily rhythms and photoperiodic responses.
