How does letting your grass grow longer help save water? Doesn’t longer grass need more water?

Longer grass is actually healthier than shorter, prematurely cut grass. Longer grass needs less water because longer blades retain more moisture and protect their roots and the soil from the sun, preventing more evaporation. Furthermore, having longer grass uses less energy if you use an electric mower. It saves you the extra work as well. Additionally, longer grass helps keep out weeds and filters out airborne pollutants and soot. For a full list of the benefits of long grass check out the link below.
