Well first of all, Iceland was born of a volcano so volcanoes are pretty central to its existence. Volcanoes provide a great cheap source of geothermal energy, which is utilized for central heating in 87% of Icelandic homes. The spectacular geysers and other geothermal sights also draw tourist attention so it sustains the country’s tourism industry as well.
