How does heat spread evenly throughout the atmosphere?

    Heat is energy; hotter air is actually moving more quickly, at a molecular level, than cooler air. Warm gas or liquid will naturally flow into cooler, lower-pressure areas, resulting in an even distribution of heat and pressure (except that by the time this has happened, something else has probably warmed up the air in a different place).
