How does gold form?

  1. 0 Votes

Gold is formed when molten rock surfaces and the magma and other minerals start to cool. Water and high pressures force open fissures in the rock where this magma and minerals flow. When this hydrothermal solution cools, mineral deposits materialize and form quartz veins, where we also often find gold.

The 49ers happened to come across rivers of eroding quartz, exposing gold deposits ready to be panned for riches.
