How does the forestry department decide what the fire danger is for that day?

Fire warnings are based on a number of criteria. Firstly, past and future weather predictions play a big role because wet weather means less chance of fire obviously. Other considerations include the time of year, avialable fuel for a fire and the effects and likely hood of a fire spreading. These vary from state to state, forest to forest and even acre to acre and can be very difficult to quantify.
