How does the FDA control the food labels?

Basically, the FDA requires all manufacturers of products to list all the ingredients in a clear manner and in a way that can be understood by the average person. “On a product label, the ingredients are listed in order of predominance, with the ingredients used in the greatest amount first, followed in descending order by those in smaller amounts.” Also, if any manufacturers fail to meet these standards, the punishment is very harsh.
