Fair trade is more focused on socio-economic factors than environmental factors but can have positive effects. Fair trade means that the products being sold are being grown or created under conditions that are up to the standards of what is fair in the eyes of the US. This includes workers wages and safety, which includes pesticide use on crops and safety in factories. So is can have benefits towards the environment but mostly it implies benefit to the communities where the products are coming from.
