How does elevation effect the boiling point of water?

    Water boils at a lower temperature at higher elevations. That is why it takes so much longer to cook things.

    Higher elevations have less air pressure. With less pressure, water boils at a lower temperature, so, although it is boiling, it is not as hot as boiling water closer to sea level.
