How does electricity restart the heart once its stopped?

    I guess is that you are talking about a defibrillator.  A defibrillator is used when a person goes into cardiac arrest, meaning his heart maybe beating erratically or abnormally.  That does not mean that the heart has stopped beating.  A defibrillator actually is the one that stop the heart from beating for a second by giving a jolt of electricity to the body.  After this, the natural pace maker cells in the heart get a chance to help regain normal function in the heart.
