It is estimated that 2-3 major wildfires are caused in California every year because of Mexican drug cartel marijuana farms. These same cartels dig massive tunnels beneath the deserts of Mexico and California, doing wide spread damage to the desert ecosystem. They also create roads across the desert with little regard for the animals they kill in the process.
Colombia’s program of aerially spraying illegal coca crops with pesticides is very harmful to the environment. Not only are the pesticides bad, but the program has actually increased the acreage of coca grown, which means more deforestation by coca growers.
