If a child is well-nourished, then a good healthy diet will help maintain excellent mental and physical health. Furthermore, having a balanced diet as a child will likely ingrain the habit in them as they grow older.
For malnourished children, a fluctuating or unhealthy diet can significantly affect their mental performance, which in turn has a negative effect on their developmet.
Poor dietary habits early in life can lead to stunted bone growth and muscle development in children. Under or malnourished children also have poorer development of coordination and motor skills. There are a number of vitamins and minerals that are a necessary part of a child’s diet, without which certain adverse health conditions may develop. For example, insufficient iron intake can lead to anemia. Proper nutrition also affects a child’s energy level and mood which can in turn affect their concentration and learning abilities.
