Compressed air energy storage takes the off-peak electricity generated by wind farms and stores it underground. The air can later be released, and the high pressure causes it to turn the wind turbine while it’s needed. It’s been an inefficient process thus far, but researchers are working to make it work better.
This is such a clever idea. It seems like it can be used for storing all types of energy, not just that which is generated from wind farms, right?
