How does Carbon effect drinking water?

That depends on what form the carbon is in. Bicarbonate forms would work to lower the pH of your drinking water; it may also make your water “carbonated,” that is, emitting carbon dioxide gas . A number of organic molecules are known carcinogens: PCB, benzene derivatives, gasoline and other petrochemicals. Or maybe it simply sweetens it up in the form of sucrose, and adds a bit of tartness with some lime juice (citric acid).
