How does caffeine affect your body differently than nicotine?

Caffeine and nicotine are similar in that they both cause adrenaline to be released into the body, which is why heart rate increases and muscles tighten up. They both also cause the release of dopamine, which is a chemical that makes you feel pleasure, and thus encourages you to keep doing the activity that causes the release.

The main difference I can see is that nicotine blocks the release of insulin. Because insulin is responsible for prompting cells to absorb excess glucose from the bloodstream, its blockage means that the blood will have more sugar than usual. This is one reason why smoking curbs one’s appetite.
