Diabetes can lead to peripheral vascular disease (the narrowing of blood vessels in a person’s legs a feet) which consequently results in poor blood circulation. This may cause swelling and dryness to the foot, foot ulcers, and foot infections due to the reduced amount of oxygen and nutrition supplied to the skin and other tissue. Additionally, poor circulation impedes one’s ability to feel heat. Therefor, a person with poor blood circulation has a greater chance of burning their feet when attempting to warm up their cold feet.
