How does the Arctic sequester carbon?

    As ice caps and glaciers melt, the water they form absorbs more carbon dioxide from the atmosphere.  This is not helpful however, for the carbon dioxide in the water contributes to raising ocean temperatures, rising acidity, and the death of many aquatic organisms.
