How does Al Gore affect Obama’s environmental decisions?

Al Gore has become a celebrated environmentalist, winning the 2007 Nobel Peace Prize for his work on climate change. Gore was not interested in serving as Obama’s “Climate Czar,” though there was speculation he would make a good fit. Gore’s ideas and name-recognition do not play an official role in Obama’s environmental policy, though the two men are regularly in contact and no doubt have compared notes on pressing environmental issues.
