How does the african climate affect people and animals?

The people and animals who live in Africa are conditioned to live there.  People there have darker skin to protect them from skin cancer, but allow enough vitamin D absorption, and the animals are suited to living in hot dry conditions (the opposite is true for people in cold weather climates who spend less time outdoors).  Animals like the African elephant take mud baths to protect their skin and disperse heat through their large ears.
