I believe he had the best intentions, but I do think some aspects of the crisis could have been handled more efficiently. The most blaring problem is that he didn’t actually talk to the CEO of BP until weeks into after the spill. I think a lot of things could have been accomplished in that time. Hindsight is always 20/20, but I feel like a president should always have an understanding of the regulatory agencies for the oil companies — he and his administration failed to see that the Minerals Management Service was giving out leases even though BP had over 700 “egregious” environmental offences.
