How do you make gasoline?

First you extract oil from the ground, then ship it to a refinery. At the refinery the oil is distilled, which means it is heated until it starts to boil. Different compounds in the oil will have different boiling points. Not all of these compounds will become gasoline, some will become jet fuel, kerosene, grease, and even asphalt. Gasoline is made from the crude oil that boils between 50-200 degrees Celsius (120-400 degrees F).
