How do you hypermile in a plane?

There are certainly ways. One of the more interesting techniques was learned from nature. Birds are known to migrate in a V formation, and studies showed it to increase their range significantly (71% for a 25-bird flock). When applied similarly to airplanes, flying just three jets in a V formation would save 15% of fuel. This can work at a distance of several miles in favorable weather, avoiding safety risks of close formations.
