That depends on the pest plant. Sometimes, weed-killer is used to kill these pests although, if you’re trying to be environmentally friendly, this tends to be a bad answer. You can also try burning the region in which it lives. Or blocking all its sunlight. Or introducing an herbivore that feeds on that plant and, hopefully, eats it to non-existence. Realistically, digging out the plant is usually the best, if not the only, option.
Another idea is to try and plant other species nearby, in the hopes that they will outcompete your pest plant, while trying the aforementioned techniques at the same time.
