I remember as a kid reading the Great Kapok Tree and doing fundraisers to save the rainforest (typically involved selling cool t-shirts). Even though I have never been there, I have always had such a connection to it. It offers such a diverse array of animals, plants, and even tribes of people-that it would be a crime for it to be destroyed. That is why I believe it is so important to preserve for future generations.
