Worms are hermaphrodites meaning they are equipped with both female and male organs. After 4-6 weeks a white band starts to form around their head which contains these organs. Despite having both sex organs worms do still need another worm to mate. They get next to each other with their heads touching on opposite ends and pass sperm from the white band into the other worm. Then they will start to form sacs. A cocoon then forms where the white band is. These cocoons hold about 1-5 baby worms. They then hatch out of the cocoon like a butterfly.
