There are many ways that water is wasted in the homes. Leaky bathroom fixtures is a big one. Toilets and faucets can leak wasting gallons of water a year before we get around to fixing them. Leaving the water running when it is not necessary, for example will brushing your teeth or soaping yourself in the shower, can also waste a lot of water in the long run. Lastly, timer sprinklers that water lawns that don’t need it, i.e. after a rain, are also another source of waste. Check the link below for more tips to avoid such waste.
What I notice the most is that people will frequently leave the water running while washing dishes. Instead of doing this, only turn the water on when you need to rinse something or use a dish pan to try and cut back.
