This is a difficult question to tackle, but one measurement we use is the carbon footprint. It basically measures our impact on the environment in terms of the amount of greenhouse gases that we produce on a day-to-day basis. However, this indicator only tells us how much we are hurting the environment as it relates to us as a living space. It does not tell us anything about how much damage we do to animals, for instance. Unfortunately, I do not know of any measurements for this kind of damage.
