One way we are measuring greenhouse gases is from space. NASA will launch a satellite that will measure levels of carbon in the atmosphere, giving us an idea of greenhouse gas levels in the upper atmosphere. This method of keeping track of greenhouse gases will be much more accurate than ground measurements. The satellite will use a spectrometer to gauge how much sunlight is being reflected back into space from Earth, letting scientists know how much CO2 exists in various areas over Earth and in various layers of the atmosphere.
