How do we study the chemical reactions within cells?

Most chemical reaction studies within cells use observational methods using microscopes.  Additionally, cell fractionation can be used to separate different parts of the organelle and see how the chemical altered the cell.

DNA microarrays give scientists the ability to identify changes in that take place within a cell given different experiemental conditions.  These are just a couple way we can study the chemical reactions taking place on a cellular level.
