How do we recover or recycle the fluids in refrigerators?

The refrigerants in the system are recovered through a pumping system that basically pumps the fluid and vapor into a tank. The tanks are then transferred to larger tanks for shipping and then set to either be recycled if it is pure enough (usually R12) or destroyed if it isn’t. The lines are tapped to drain the fluid. The compressors are removed and drained of the oil. The compressors are recycled as scrap metal and the oil is sent to incineration due to the possibility of PCBs in the oil.
