by decreasing the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. this is near impossible to do quickly, the gases need to go through natural processes to retain them back in the ground and not the air. trees and plants filter some of these gases out of the air, but in small quantities. it is possible to extract CO2 and methane from the atmosphere but this process is costly and requires porous rock to sequester the gases in underground.
