How do vending machines keep drinks cold? Do they use CFCs or HFCs?

CFCs were phased out of vending machine manufacturing processes in 1992 and replaced with HFCs. However, research has found HFCs to be extremely potent greenhouse gases which contribute to global warming. Now more steps are being taken to change the manufacturing of vending machines in order to make them more eco-friendly. Greenpeace is a leading contributer to the process of manufacturing more efficient, less hazardous and more eco-friendly vending machines.
