Tree squirrels make nests for themselves lined with tree fibers and leaves. Their fur is very thick, and thicker during the winter. In the fall, squirrels fatten up by eating as much as possible to help them survive through the cold, when food is scarce. In addition, some squirrels will share nests to keep warm during very cold nights.
