There are three ways that sharks reproduce. In all cases, it starts with the fertilization of the egg and the development of the embryo within the female. With Oviparous sharks, they lay eggs in or coral, where the egg continues to develop. Once born, the shark is left to fend for itself. There are also Viviparous sharks, which give birth to live sharks. The young are fed milk from the mother shark and are protected until they can survive on their own. Ovoviviparous sharks also give birth, however the mother does not provide nourishment for the young.
