Sgamans attept to live in harmony with nature. They believe that the Earth offers us gifts of food, materials for clothing, and medicines. Tey believe that the Earth must be kept healthy. They believe that by connectign with nature people will understand her better and will also work to protect her.
The purpose of a shaman depends on the culture. It’s wrong to pigeonhole all indigenous peoples and their respected leaders. Some shamans focus on health, others help the tribe with planting and rain, others dream for the tribe, etc. Most shamans do not do what they do to because they are “environmentalists.” To put our cultural ideas on another culture is demeaning. I suggest you read up about the noble savage theory.
