How do scientists plan to reverse-engineer a “dino-chicken?”

Because birds are basically dinosaurs in modern form, and because chickens have been genetically mapped, it is believed that scientists can restore some of the original dinosaur traits. Basically, the scientists will take a chicken embryo and change the level of regulatory proteins that inhibit the growth of dinosaur traits like a tail, teeth, and forearms. It is important to note that in the event this were to be successful, and the chicken were to grow to an adult “dinosaur”, that mating with other chickens would not produce more dino-chicks!
