How do scientists learn about the earths interior?

Some scientists use earthquakes to study the earth’s interior. The motion of earthquake waves propagated through the earth help scientist picture what the structure of the earth’s interior might be like. On the other hand, some scientists study deep openings in the ocean floor that expose the earth’s mantle. An example of this would be the “open wound” on the Atlantic seafloor where the Earth’s deep interior lies exposed without any crust covering.
