How do scientist know about the earth’s interior?

Scientists know about the earth’s interior in three different ways: by studying seismograms during earthquaks, by drilling deep, deep into the earth, and by studying Earth’s magnetic field. Earth’s magnetic field is charged up in the inner core (the hottest molten part of Earth at the very center). By looking at seismograms, scientists can study how the crust and mantle function (those are the top two layers of the Earth). Finally, by drilling, scientists can determine what kinds of minerals are located deep underground.
