The highveld is the general area of inland veld in South Africa, and it consists of flat or gently underrating terrain, including grasslands. The savanna, on the other hand, is a grassland ecosystem that features small trees creating an open canopy allowing sufficient sunlight.
The Highveld is the level grassland area that occupies most of the interior upland plateau in South Africa.
