How do recycling facilities get rid of the ink and lead on paper?

The process of de-inking recycled paper begins by first dissolving the recovered paper in water. This is meant to separate the paper fibres from the ink or lead “impurities”. After this the ink is removed from the bath by a floatation process where air is blown into the solution. The ink is attracted to the bubbles of water and floats to the surface where it can then be separated from the solution.
