How do pythons affect United States ecosystems?

A group of pythons, introduced into the Florida ecosystem through pet trading, are wreaking havoc on the native ecosystem therein. The pythons, which hail originally from South East Asia, prey on small rodents, wading birds and other mammals that are not used to the extra predators–thus it is very dangerous for them and affecting their population levels.
