How do presidents use the power of the government to protect the environment?

    The president uses his the United States reputaiton and finances to protect the environment. We are at a point in time where environmental policy is no longer a national issue, but a worldwide one. The president therefore has two tools as I previously stated.

    1) The U.S. is an economic worldwide powerhouse regaurdless of the currenct reccession. Therefore, if a big environmental project is to be undertaken, the U.S. is expected to contribute a significant ammount of the money needed to undertake it.

    2) The U.S is known as a “global trendsetter”. Its the monkey see monkey do effect. If the U.S. shows it is commitied to a change, other world powers are likely to follow suit (such as the EU and BRIC countries).
