How do power plants cause global warming?

    Power plants give off carbon dioxide which is released into the atmosphere. Coal-burning power plants produce 2.5 billion tons every year of carbon dioxide, the largest U.S. source of co2. Many power plants are decades-old and are no longer complient with environmental regulations.
