Plants cope with drought by using minimal water. Some plants are more prone to death from drought than others, other plants such as cacti can hold large amounts of water within itself, and it uses that over time to sustain photosynthesis. Plants can tap into the ground water in some areas, and ever with a drought they can potentially survive through it.
