How do pesticides penetrate the ground?

Pesticides that are liquid penetrate the ground the same as water does. It seeps through the soil and eventually ends up in the water table. For the pesticides that are in solid form, they are absorbed by water that comes in contact with it and eventually seeps through the soil into the water table, or ends up in our waterways.
