This is a dangerous activity that must be learned from another professional, and takes a lot of practice. The basic idea behind it is to have enough saliva in the mouth to protect the inner tissue for the few seconds that the fire is in the mouth, and to breathe out slowly so that the last puff of breath puts out the flame while holding it in their mouth. Fire-eaters may simply put the flame in their mouth for a few minutes, they may quench the flame with their salive, or they may ‘hold’ the flames in their mouth for a moment beforeblowing them back out. The most essential thing to keep in mind is not to breath in while performing, because this could burn the pharynx and even collapse a lung.
