How do the mines still in Cambodia affect the local wildlife?

The mines left in Cambodia continue to affect both humans and wildlife. It is estimated that 6 million mines are still currently in the country. 40,000 Cambodians have been disabled by mines, and uncounted numbers have died. The mines have also dramatically affected elephants, possibly thousands of tigers, wild cattle, leopards, bears, barking deer and an array of other animals. Animals unknowingly come across these mines and are instantly killed or severly injured. Some villagers have even taken advantage of the mines and used them as hunting aids.
