How do large city aquariums manage their water waste?

    Unfortunately, some of the biggest aquariums are far from the most responsible. Last year, California exempted the Monterey Bay Aquarium from wastewater dumping regulations. The aquarium operates on an open system that takes in 1,400 gallons and discharges 2 million gallons of seawater a day into the bay.
